Whaaaaa....????
Oh man, I’m jealous. Just start at the beginning and go chronologically— though I’d say Adrenaline is their worst (still a 3.5 tho) so maybe start with Around the Fur, then circle back to Adrenaline at the end.
Top 3 band for me. Incredibly consistent, melodic and heavy.

I mean, if you like this, you’ll like Deftones. This is the best representation of their sound imo. The most “Deftones-y” album.

this is great but it also sounds like something that would be a sputnik 3.2 if it were any other band

No.

the only reason this record under another artist name would have a lower rating is because of the points deducted for sounding like a Deftones rip-off

Yeah this is a great record no matter who the fuck’s name is on it. Not quite sure I get what neek’s saying. All good though!

i think they really grabbed what made them great by the horns here & put it all into this sweetly concise package with very little beating around the bush (or fur, hehe) to make what might be their most compulsively listenable record since the late 90s. so i guess in that sense it maybe gets a bonus point or two from comparing to their other work, but it's not just a simple "ooh i love all things Deftones" thing, for me at least

Idk, I think the album gets a lot of mileage out of being a culmination and refinement of everything Deftones had done over the preceding 15 years. Maybe 3.2 is a low estimate but I genuinely think that if this had come out of nowhere and gotten really popular as some other bands first big release, there would be a lot more people like Potsy saying how it's just Linkin Park with Meshuggah riffs.

Maybe. But those people would be full of shit.

A friend of mine once said that Deftones sound like My Chemical Romance with heavy guitars... what the actual fuck. Anyways, he's more of an exception here in the Czech Republic, otherwise people either don't know Deftones or love them.

tbh this record kinda came out of nowhere since it was the first since Chi's accident and the question if they continue or not. However, this is the last album that comes to my mind when it's about "undeserved deftones hype". Like the really the last one. As a huge deftones fanboy I still don't get the hype for SNW for example

This was my first Deftones album as I discovered the bad when they released this so that is some bullshit really

This is one of my favourite albums ever. The songs are incredible in terms of structure and instrumentation and it is their magnum opus. I feel it is better than White Pony but at the end of the day this band is one of the best.
