I just find the songs sort of stop and end abruptly with little change or progression in the middle

Finally got around to giving this album a more thorough listen and it holds up rather well. I wouldn't call it overly memorable, but the near 50-50 collaboration between James Mercer & Danger Mouse is ultimately likeable indie-pop with interesting melodies and sounds spread throughout. One moment it is acoustics, and then electronics. From trumpets to organs, the production is predictably detailed. 'Mongrel Heart' sounds like the soundtrack to every genre of film imaginable! The album could definitely do with a further shot of energy, but thankfully does not outstay its welcome at 37 minutes long. Recommended Tracks: The High Road, Mongrel Heart, The Mall and Misery & Vaporize.

Soundoff? I agree with your recommended tracks, but I enjoy this quite a bit more than you.

I couldn't stop listening to this when I got it. It may not be memorable individually, but collectively it works. I can never remember song names these days anyway,,,

album is good. not amazing.

It's not Dangermouse - it's James Mercer. There are a couple of songs on here I like, but most of it is just crooning,
indie pop bullsh*t. Dangermouse was best to stick with Cee-Lo Green and Damon Albarn. It's pretty in terms of
music, but the lyrics are pretty girly and artificial. Just...no.
lol bulldog
can't wait to check this out
