Haha. It's a tough one because when the band is on it; the songs are wonderful. Then, I find that it's sort of lacking in others. Maybe I'll pick up the CD and see how the production fairs on my speakers. =)

Aside from 'Shape Shifter' and the last two tracks on the album, I like every song on here. 'World News' and 'Airplanes' are just alright though

What? 'World News' was wonderful if you ask me. I thought it was a delightful piece of music but I agree; didn't care much for 'Airplanes'

i seem to be in the minority with my opinion on 'world news,' but i think shape shifter skews the opinion of the later tracks negatively, which may be even better than the front half

really? wide eyes, airplanes, sun hands, world news and shape shifter are like, 4.5 material. i tend to skip every after that because it makes me snooze.

I liked 'Who Knows, Who Cares' over 'airplanes' Other then that, I agree.

Yea, 'who knows, who cares' definitely, but like i said before, 'cards and quarters' and 'cubism dream' are a couple of very underappreciated tracks. 'warning sign' and 'camera talk' are also great fun i think

i really appreciate a solid album that i can throw on wherever and not look crazy. i just played coil's 'horse rotorvator' in the lab i was studying in and got many dirty looks

Ah, it's a decent album. Probably will stick with my rating. Too many sleeper songs to justify a 'great' rating for me.

@aokukeff yeah, i liked heligoland, but mezzanine exists and is far better. so that kind of just throws my expectations off. if a band can't be consistent with the awesomeness throughout one album, let alone their discography it makes me question whether their gems were just flukes, heh.

damn balcaen dropping some truth bombs. i'm obsessed with mezzanine though so i crave similar. heligoland delivered a few gems though so i wanted to pay it some due. you ever hear maxinquaye by tricky?



i appreciate the back half of the album cause its very soft and soothing + if others aren't playing songs that are good, it actually gives me even a greater drive to find those tracks. i just don't see how so many people say this can't maintain quality though :/ -- if this was more original it would be a 4 for me easy
