as i said im a sucker for melodies and these guys take the strong points of bands i like and make them better

theyre better at writing hooks than vampire weekend, less (seemingly) obsessed with image than fleet foxes (and vampire weekend), better at writing "songs" than the dodos (i like the dodos but too many of their songs devolve into...well, i'm not sure what to call it but it happens at the end of nearly every song on visiter that isn't below four or five minutes), and theyre a little less boring (this is contestable admittedly) than grizzly bear

but you know whatevs i can see why someone wouldnt like it

I've been listening to this album without Sun Hands since it came out. This is why you buy albums instead of downloading them :[

God, out of the forest of indie music, this have to the musically quality bands to emerge. Their music is profoundly gorgeous. There's not a single song on this album that didn't move me. This is definitely making it into the Top 5, if not Top 3 for my list this year of the year's best albums. Gorgeous music.... this is what good music sounds like. Not just another pretentious hipster band making music for the sake of making music.

Yeah, top 5 of the year for me too... I just didn't know which year, so it missed out on both 2009 & 2010.

A pretty solid debut. I liked it. Saw these guys last year at the Reading Festival and quite enjoyed their set. (kept it to myself though =) )

Anyway, they're no Fleet Foxes but they're pretty good and they got some potential to give.

i think 'cards and quarters' and 'cubism dream' are a couple underappreciated gems actually. i do have some nostalgia here though cause it was my first sputnik review and first (and best) show i've been to at nyc's bowery ballroom
