I listened to that Periphery song that was just released with a video (Flight of Icarus or something like that...too lazy to check the actual name) and I don't really get what was so great about it. It was decent but I enjoy this more. That's only from one song though.

I'm liking this CD more and more I listen to it. I heard a few songs and saw that it was for sale for $5 @ RR records so I went for it. And i'm glad I did. My only problem is the vocals do sound at times power metalish. Don't get me wrong he is an amazing singer...it just threw me off the first few listens. Also I think the keyboards are very impressive, but at times make the CD sound over dramatic instead of epic sounding. Maybe after a few more listens my rating will go higher.

I don't like this better than Periphery but it's pretty fucking good for a debut.

The thing with Periphery is that they really are cutting edge stuff. They're very, very modern. This is more rooted in the past. No offense to it. I'm not saying that makes them worse than Periphery, it depends on what you value, but that's why I'm excited for Periphery. Mutiny Within combines what I like from the past, Periphery is pressing forward into what's going on now and in the future.
Or I think so.

Yeah I thought the same about Periphery, they may wear their influences on their sleeves but there's something undeniably modern sounding about them. It's a bit cliche (and even early) to say this but they really seem like they could be the future of metal to me, or at least play an important part in it.

Just been listening to some of thier songs on thier Myspace, and it looks like I'll be getting this on monday :D
|

they've overproduced it ant it really overshadows the technical potential they have.
There is no doubt that this is quality tho
undone is an awesome catchy metal song.

I actually like the vocals here, hate power metal though but I guess it does sound somewhat similar. Instrumentation is awesome here too.

Bass player is quite possibly the worst muscian ive EVER seen live. Looks like he stole his bass lines from some drunk hobo with an elastic attached to two pencils.
