Dirty women was the only other i enjoyed. Even then 'top of their game' is a stretch. For me it just stands out on here because the rest is so mundane. At least dirty women has some fire about it

Don't know man, I think it is one of the band's best songs and certainly one of Iommi's coolest solos but yeah, overall the album is weak af. NSD is a little bit better imo

I realised recently I never really checked the 'bad' Sabbath records. At least not that I remember so Im having a run through them. NSD is up next!

You Won't Change Me and Dirty Women, yeah, but I also like All Moving Parts (Stand Still)

the ½ comes from Rock 'n' Roll Doctor, which I like musically, but hate for its lyrics

"NSD is up next"

First three songs rule hard

"the ½ comes from Rock 'n' Roll Doctor, which I like musically, but hate for its lyrics"

Sometimes I like Rock n Roll Doctor, sometimes I hate it. Don't know why

Junior's Eyes is the only amazing song on NSD imo

If you combined the best of TE an NSD, you'd get a pretty good 4/5 imo though, imagine:

Side 1:

1. Never Say Die - 3:50

2. You Won't Change Me - 6:44

3. Junior's Eyes - 6:43

4. Air Dance - 5:18

Side 2

5. All Moving Parts (Stand Still) - 5:09

6. Breakout - 2:35

7. Dirty Women - 7:13

8. Swinging the Chain - 4:09

I gave one to Bill Ward because his NSD contribution is meh at worst, not terrible like It's Alright

I agree but I'd add Johnny Blade since it's the best in NSD for me

Difficult question since I, at least, enjoy all the songs you listed. Maybe I'd take off All Moving Parts or Swinging the Chain

But I'd just prefer a 9 track album. It'd be around 50min I think? So it'd be long for its time but not like it hadn't been seen before

I agree. I bought the cd years and years ago and was fine with it. It’s not the greatest no

To many people new Black Sabbath's sound on this record was too advanced to understand. There is a lot progressive rock like sound which might be confusing compare to much heavier recordings (Sabotage or Vol4).

But because of this record BS got them-self a new audience with this brilliant album. If you like melodic rock you'd be happy to have this one in your collection.

You Won't Change Me, Gypsy and Dirty Women are excellent.
