Good review, but I don't know why your favorite song is Get On Top. I think it should be 5 stars instead of four. Its hard to have an album any better than that.

I dont agree with some of what your saying, it seems that if its not funky it gets a bad mark, easily, emit remmus and this velvet glove are great songs, otherside is the best on the album, get on top rocks too.

Good point, you shouldn't judge a band by what they've done in the past, concentrae on what they're doing now, they like it.

Get On Top is my fave track, the Wah! The Freakin' Wah!!!

I never really liked Get On Top compared to the other tracks, but when they did it live, it kicked some serious butt. I'm really getting back into this album now after excessive listening of it.

obviously none of them. I mean, I like at least 5 songs on each cd, but I guess that's just my personal opinion.

My Review

1. Around The World- Great song, I love the intro. I think it's just an all around great song, Great way to kick an album off 8.5/10

2. Parallel Universe- Probaly one of the hardest songs on the cd, I like it though. Great chorus good bass line. Still nothing too special 7.5/10

3. Scar Tissue- A great mellow song, It's also an extremely catchy song (can;t stop singing it!) And has an easy but great solo by john. 8.5/10

4. Otherside- My favourite track on this cd, I love everything about it anthony has a great voice on it, It's insanely catchy, good bass, Good guitar, great solos 10/10

5. Get On Top- An average song, Nothing too special. Its funky got some cool lyrics. 7/10

6. Californication- Another of my favourites on the album, It has a very good riff in it. Again Anthony's lyrics and vocals are top notch 10//10

7. Easily- An good song just nothing too special about it 7.5/10

8. Porcelain- Probaly my least favourite song on the cd, It's still good mind you, I just don't listen to it much. Still a nice song 7/10

9. Emitremmus- A prety good intro and its an average song, nothing special though, I find the chorus annoying 7/10

10. I Like Dirt- A very fun funky track, a funny chorus it's a good song8/10

11. This Velvet Glove- I actually like this song, I love the chorus and some wicked guitar 8/10

12 Saviour- A great song, good western intro and a very catchy song I like it alot 9/10

13. Purple Stain- Another very fun song, complete nonsense lyrics, an overall great song 8.5/10

15. Road Trippin- An amazing song about life onn the road. One of there best acoustic songs, no drums though. Its a great song good harmonizing 10/10

Overall 10/10 One of my favourite albums of all time.

Alright mate don't **** yourself. It's just I tend to rate songs within an album, so Get On Top gets 10/10 on Californication, but as a Chilis song, when rated against all their other songs, it's score is lowered...I'm not trying to be a critic...

Good Review, I like the album.

This is my first try at a review so give us a bit of lee-way! and close to a first post, so yeah... Oh and i'd be sure this album has been done before, but does it hurt to see this remarkable album again!?

This album is great, when Chili Peppers got a new guitarist everyone thought it would be going down hill for them, but after 4 hits on this album which was released in 1998, everyone was quickly shut up.

I'm not entirely great at putting images on.. sorry about that...

Tracks...

1. Around The World.
A great beginning and song, very could i use the word, "Funky?" its a great song and it's a perfect start song IMO. "you say hello and then you say i do" is a great line.
2.Parallel Universe.
In most albums you get that song which is always there, but it's not always a standout.. but you listen to it becuase its there and not bad.. thats what i think parallel universe is.. i love this song, then next time i listen to it, i hate it.. you have to be in the right mood for this song...
3.Scar Tissue
Great song, and i think vocals are great in this song, and like always with the RHCP everything fits well. i think everybody knows the line "young kentucky girl in a push up bra haha!)
4.Otherside
I love this song. Everything about it, great vocally, and i love the guitar n bass.. One of the hits off the album..
5 Get on Top!
Also another of my favourites, for no apparent reason other than the lyrics, it's awesome, and just the way it changes pace, it's great.. Not at first though, it's more of a when your finished with the hits of the album song.
6.Californication
This song is brilliantly done and shows the skill of RHCP. Personally. True its not their hardest song to play, but as the saying goes, Simplicity is the key. And i love their video clip for this, (for those who forget, the video game/ tony hawk kinda thing) Also the Line "Pay your surgeon to break the spell of ageing!"
7.Easily..
Not one of my personal favourites, but i can see how some people do. I don't think the solo fits at the end though.. Thats just me..
8. Porcelian
Also another one of those, just on the album for when you're done with the hits. It's good, but not great like most of the other songs.. also where the album starts to wind down in pace.
9. Emit Remmus, what the **** is this song? it's wierd, it's a mixture between well im not sure.. i don't think this song should have been on the album! IMO.
10. I Like Dirt
Great and once again may i use "Funky" song. boppy i could say. Its offbeat anyway. Good though. nothing more nothing less. Good. Like a bad looking car. It gets you from a-b no problem but it's just so much better in a car with style. this song is good.
11. This Velvet Glove
I don't know really what to say for this song.. but it's not a bad song.
12.Savior
A great song, and i can imagine it would sound a lot better live. Not for its rockyness, but for a normal crowd it would be cool. It's a song for RHCP fans who have known them for ages. You wouldn't play this to a newb RHCP Fan.
13.Purple Strain
Another one of those songs where its just there. you have to be in the mood for this song. I've never actually i don't think listenened to whole song before.
14. Right On Time
haha, i always get a fright when i hear the beginning of that! Its from PS to that up beat wa hoo beginning, anohter beat boxing thingy.. haha yeah.
15. Road Trippin'
this song is another one of their hits. And i love how they put it last, becuase when you first hear it, you think, it's over, then this lil' gem comes out. Brilliant. Maybe an old song and not finished untill later? maybe? Makes me think about maybe when times weren't as good for them as for Money wise! But brilliant, also really good for you guitar players, its really good feeling when you get it right.
I give this album an 8 out of 10. Not 9 or 10 becuase of those songs that are just there. Especially Emit Remmus, but other than that it's brilliant.
Don't forget these were all just in my own opinion!
