I dunno porch; I wouldn't really think of Zen Arcade as post-hardcore tbh. I think Husker Du was definitely the biggest influence on early post-hardcore, but I think Zen Arcade isn't quite post-, if that makes sense.
It's a great album, I just think it's proto-ph rather than actual ph.

i'd just call it punk but zen arcade is one of the classic examples of an early hardcore band making a point of breaking out of that mold, it practically defines post-hardcore. it's not like it's anything more than a term of convenience anyway, there's no defined post hardcore 'sound'
yeah i got live leaves on wax too, only listened to the digital download so far though
