Not seeing The Jesus Lizard but I can see a bit of Sonic Youth. Havent listened to Spiderland enough times to say whether id agree with that.

Jesus Lizard pertains more to their early days, especially Fake Train (Valetine Card and Kantina!!), as well as tracks like Unauthorised Autobiography and Accidents on Purpose. Spiderland is all over their more creepy/atmospheric stuff, from Honourosis and Abstraktions all the way through here

Goat and Liar are great.
I really needa start jamming The Jesus Lizard more often tbh.

I’ve always seen similarities between these guys and Fugazi, more so than I can compare them to other post hardcore bands of the time. And even though The Argument and this album ended up in different places, I think that both are departures for each band in similar ways.

some godspeed sounds in this as well

this album covers so many different styles i never lose interest in it. to me there's definitely a heavy slint influence here though, more so than godspeed or fugazi imo

Ooh color me excited! I’m seeing references to GY!BE as well, so I’m even more disappointed in myself for not checking this sooner.

Terminus is just otherworldly good. Loving what I’m hearing so far. Has that beautiful early 2000s aesthetic to it.
