The segment with the preacher speaking is so beautiful.

I think I'm gonna pick this up. If there's 1 band I always feel sad about when I think about their break-up, it's GY!BE, so this should be cool.

i wonder why other post rock bands exist when perfection in the genre has already been reached

Yeah, and I like how no one really tries and emulate Godspeed, like how other bands try to be like the best band in their genre all the time. Everyone just knows Godspeed is untouchable.

Mono and Yndi Halda come kind of close, but neither are as desolate and depressing (or as great) as Godspeed were.

I really wish Silver Mt. Zion were as good. It kind of sucks that no one goes for this sound, since the mood Godspeed captures is just unbelievable. But yeah, I don't think anyone would be able to touch it anyways so oh well.

Not in terms of brillience, in terms of style. Of course, they're much brighter than Godspeed ever were.

Yndi Halda is the only band that can compare to Godspeed IMO. They're not as good, but definitely the first band I would rec to people who have gone through the whole GY!BE discog and want more. I love how much easier it is to hear the preacher on this release. Not that I dislike how it's done in Static, but it's nice to have the alternative of hearing what he's saying clearly here.

Apparently all the new songs Yndi Halda have performed at recent shows have been indie-folk on acoustic instruments.

This is almost as good as Skinny Fists, but it's lacking the quirks that make Skinny fists such a beast.

This is perfect for when you physically havnt got enough time to listen to one of their full lengths but still want to listen to them. I listen to this quite a bit
