Album Rating: 4.0
well given how the middle of the album has grown hugely on me i'm sure i'll come to appreciate its greatness in the near future
on that note i can't even fathom why i didn't used to like slow show, that shit's genius

Slow Show is top 5 the National songs for me. That ending.

agreed, that opening guitar riff is perfect too
the one thing i still don't love about this album, i've come to realize, is the vocal processing -
half of the lyrics sound inaudible compared to alligator and HV, especially on the slower tracks

Perfect song in general.
It does sound like he mumbles quite a bit, so fair enough. This was my first The National though, so it will always have a special place in my heart.

sure, i'm probably biased toward alligator for the same reasons. this is improving by the day though, so it may eventually reach hard 5 status

I'll probably 5 it one day. Alligator is very close as well, the five song stretch that ends that
album is godly.

agreed, probably the most consistent national, or at least the one that has a total of 0 tracks i dislike
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
I like every track on Alligator and Boxer. The last two have been a bit more inconsistent, but the highs on High Violet (heh) are the best moments of their career though IMO
