Bowie is a great example. The excitement that flows through Ziggy is palpable. I don't know if things are half arsed nowadays it's just back in the day people had fuck all else so they literally gave their lives to 'it'

Music today is still fantastic, you just have to look outside of the mainstream to find the gems. I think a good example of an artist today who seems to live and breathe music is Steven Wilson. He has such a passion for the music he makes and he constantly wants to make more.

less diversions to click on back then. you purchased a record with your allowance or whatever and it stayed on your spin table for a month... word-of-mouth differentiated the worthy.

He definitley has the passion but he seems to reach for something that isn't there. You either have it or you don't, he almost has. Regardless he's knocking on a bit, where's the young crowd stepping up to the plate to make the next generation defining classic? I honestly don't think it's happened since OKC.

I can't think of a new artist that has made a generation defining album, they're all coming from the established artists. The only one that comes to mind is Adele's 21 which I don't even like, but it had a massive impact.

Absolutely all that warbly white bird soul is representative of an age. Winehouse, Duffy, Adele, but in terms of a boundary expanding, influential mind melting original work of art that resonates down student corridors and blasts out the car speakers of a 30 something going to work. There's been fuck all.

Well there was one song that was everywhere and still gets a lot of airplay...

A song most people would rather forget about...

I've been hearing Nasty a lot these past few months in public places, definitely one the better tracks from TDIME.
