That was my initial experience with this too. Then again, I usually can't stand double albums so that was probably why

Duuuuuude and I thought I was a Lamb detractor. I'd agree with the statement if you meant the second disc only.

i actually remember the second half being a bit better. I'm not saying album is bad, i'm sure i'm wrong, i just didn't enjoy it much when i heard it and getting through it was a nightmare except for a few songs.

At least it's not as painful as the White Album by The Beatles

why jam this though when you can jam foxtrot or SEBTP. not a since "weaker" nor "meandering" moment to be found in either.

Because it's better to listen to three great albums than two great albums? By that logic you could literally say "why listen to any other album ever made if you can just jam your favourite album and nothing else"

Good point, I never tire of Foxtrot not SEBTP though.

Indeed they're both better than this but that doesn't mean I just shouldn't jam this at all

"why jam this though when you can jam foxtrot or SEBTP."

Because this is better.

Do you need a better reason than that?

And Rowan's reasoning is good too, if you are objectively wrong and think those albums are better ;)

Whats better about it? just asking out of curiousity. I'm sure its as great as everybody says and i'm sure my opinion is wrong

but it still feels like this focuses just as much on the lyrical concept as it does on the actual musicianship, except for a few

tracks. i also feel its not nearly as consistent as their last two (arguably even 3 or 4) records. for me at least.

This is better in pretty much every way for me. The songwriting is much more concise and focussed, it's lyrically much more relatable than the more typical overblown prog lyrics of their previous albums, which are also more typical of prog musically while this is more refined instrumentally with the song writing being the main draw. It's also much, much more consistent than Selling England despite being twice as long.

And this is also ten times more consistent and cohesive than Nursery Cryme.
