honestly I just watched these and it has changed my tune about the idea. i do hope the actual ep will be sans speeches (im certain it will) but a few thoughts:
massive attacks politics have been an important aspect of their presence for a long time, particularly over the last decade or so, and as someone who generally empathizes with their beliefs these speeches are actually feeling quite powerful and critical. the combination of the speeches and the excellent visuals and the music honestly made me tear up. the young fathers song is particularly great.
ma has been going the audio/visual route for a while now and it has been very effective imo. it might leave me yearning for another LP but with a band as huge, impactful, and political as ma it was kind of inevitable that they eventually would transcend convention. this seems natural to me. gonna wait to rate til the actual ep drops but i'm ok with this after all. it's very massive attack.

yeah for sure its not like this came out of nowhere and its also from a genuinely good place and is well thought out (ie not a white middle class indie band going "WE NEED TO KILL BEZOS AND SAVE THE WOMEN"). the visuals were amazing too esp the human faces one.

This is an interesting one. Some plodding nonsense like the weakest Protection tracks, but also nice atmosphere like the last two, and some of their best songs with great build-ups.

File this album under "devastating waste of potential"

The production is gorgeous and the vinyl is all glittery and cool, but a shiny exterior does not a good album make. There's no masking the fact there is nothing really lurking beneath that lovely gleam. Soulless songs, empty calories

Really bland at some points, but Babel is awesome
I feel like 3D's voice is extra nasal on this one, which is weird because it's always been super nasal
Also as a big Mazzy Star fan, I feel like I'm supposed to love Paradise Circus, but I don't

Another one of them albums that came out 13yrs ago but seems far more than that.
I bought this from the Virgin Megastore and it seems about 30yrs ago.
Still a very average listen.
