I'm going to be interested if this album grows on or off people. As much as I was in the minority in liking 'Liberation Transmission', I do admit it was extremely immediate for me & didn't really grow on subsequent listens.
This album is different however. I was initially leaning towards a 3.5, but many of the tracks really grew on me... Especially musically.

That means a lot Ross. Don't expect me to go back to the longer format however.
No problem. (When I write them) My reviews are long enough for the both of us anyway ;-).

"(When I write them) My reviews are long enough for the both of us anyway ;-)." You could look at it this way: You write something like 5 words per day on reviews. Haha.
|
| |
My rate isn't all that bad really if you look at it overall. 35 reviews over 18 months of writing them is nearly two a month.

Well, at least you give reviews a go rather than just commenting on how easy it is to write reviews without actually writing reviews.

Dammit, Daveyboy. Now I want to listen but it's not out in Australia yet.

Is that a sly dig at someone or just a pointed observation? Either way I'd like to think my (hopefully) quality over quantity approach is worthwhile. I may not write many but thats because I spend a damn long time on the ones I do write.

My New Year's Resolution is to write less hastily. This new Los Campesinos! review is a beast of a creature.

"Dammit, Daveyboy. Now I want to listen but it's not out in Australia yet." Hmmm, what to do, what to do.
"Is that a sly dig at someone or just a pointed observation?" More an observation, and if it's a dig I can't recall who it's at. There are a few around though.
"My New Year's Resolution is to write less hastily" Yeah, there's some timeliness pressure as staff, but I don't feel you should rush yourself. I mean, look at your MCS review; You weren't 1st, but it still got featured due to your contributor status. Not that Jared's review was bad either.

I remember when me and Adam had a comparable number of reviews...

LC! was made easier by the fact it leaked at least 3 weeks prior to release haha, but I know what you mean. Still, the resolution crosses over to other sorts of writing, too.
2010's actually started pretty damn well if you ask me. 3 weeks in, 3 great albums.

"Still, the resolution crosses over to other sorts of writing, too." I'm presuming you mean your uni/college stuff... Or are there other little Strikey side-projects?

An excellent review, Davey. I thoroughly enjoy your reviews, and this one in particular; and what's more, I wholeheartedly agree with the content and rating. However, as much as I enjoy The Light That Burns Twice As Bright I don't think anything will ever top Sway for me.

Burn Burn DavID. I hope you're catching the 'last train home' at the BDO on either Friday or Saturday... If you're going?
Thanks gyro. And I saw that 'Sway' comment coming a mile away. Umm, I'm unsure how I compare them myself. It's sort of different contexts for different times when included as the closer for each album. I guess I should listen to them back-to-back when I get a chance.

Haha, no, well... I guess, but I've amassed 282 Facebook notes of random songs, poems and ramblings since I started at uni. Mostly those.

Haha, Sway is just godlike and makes me soar; plus I listened to it at an important time in my life.

I remember these guys being one of the worst nu-metal bands back in the day.

They stand out in their genre as one of the best, I would say. I recommend you pick up Start Something.
