Mostly on Hordalendingen (or at least the beginning of the album), the rest not so much maybe.

793 is an 11/10 black metal track, rest is snooze. funny that the band would go on to become sooooooooo much better

Hordalendingen is soooooooo good! One of my fave Enslaved tracks I think. This one is a little overlooked!

793, For Lenge Siden and the t/t are the highlights here. Definitely less consistent than their first two recordsbut still great and with its own identity.

Yesss, Eld is such a special album, the atmosphere in it, hard to describe. Love it. Your enthusiasm give me the interest to revisit all their discog from start to finnish.

Having jammed their first three records extensively now I'm quite surprised how consistently good they've been. They're all 4.0s to me with Vikingligr Veldi being the favorite and possessing the passive ability to be possibly even be 4.5'd by me.

~~...with its own identity~~ Flug soundoff, bumped, agreed

~~793 is an 11/10 black metal track, rest is snooze...~~ No snooze here, impossibly, identity error about the band or the album, hihihi. Very different from later work, yes.

I do understand why some feels that it is as a whole, snooze. It is nearly all about unfulfilled expectation, a big part of their earlier work incorporate a lot of hypnotic riffs voluntary.

One way to appreciate these early career phase, trust their genius creativity, let go, embrace this superficial chaos. It will give deep music gem, as a gift.

discog walk: The atmosphere: In "Eld", it is very different than in Frost. In Frost, it was very different than in "Vikingligr Veldi".

If we pay attention, we will observe this phenomena all along their discog. The difference will be that sometimes the level of change will be almost imperceptible, or not perceived if we loose focus. I like it. In part, this is amplified by the prog element incorporate along the way. Like Flug and other observe.

The opener "793", an other long hq epic piece. The closer "Eld", incredibly very very beautiful piece.
