Three words that completely turn me off to this band.

Christian. Rock. Band.

That's pretty bad reasoning for deciding not to check out a band. If they make good music it shouldn't

really matter.

Christian rock is pretty easy reason to not enjoy something. What's something that annoys you? Okay, well here's a band that sings about it non-stop.

That wouldn't be annoying?

Don't mind Stokes, he seems to make a habit of having no reasoning behind his accusations.

Yes Thrice has Christian Themes in their lyrics, but that isn't in reference to the Bible or
Religion it's a reference to C.S. Lewis.

If the music is good then it's polluted to me, it's like Manchester Orchestra. Do I like the way
they sound? Yes. But when I get into the lyrics and it's all about virgins and babies born in blood,
it's annoying and becomes hard to listen to. I don't think I'm being unreasonable when I say I can't
get into a band that deliberately flaunts their religion. There are all sorts of bands with
Christian members that don't sing about religion because that isn't what their band is about.

I didn't say the band sucked because it's christian rock. I just said it turned me off to the whole
thing.

"Of Dust and Nations" - Thrice
Chorus:
"so put your faith in more than steel
don't store your treasures up, with moth and rust
where thieves break in and steal"

Matthew 19-21...
"Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and rust does corrupt,
and where thieves break through and steal."

Just wanted to point this out.

what I meant to say is, the lyrics aren't in reference to their love or faith in the bible. They are references to C. S. Lewis works and his faith. Read an interview, they aren't into having christian themes.

"This isn't a 5, and it lacks originality..."

What?! This album is very original. I've not heard anything quite like this before

^ Some songs sounds very similar to what Thrice did on The Alchemy Index but they succeed whereas Thrice's album was hit or miss. Such a brillant album, it's a shame they broke up.

Hmm.. Idk. I can see *a little* Alchemy Index I guess, but to me this sounds quite a bit different.

Either way, this and the Alchemy Indexes are amazing albums.

Preach! "Via Dolorosa" is mainly the reason I gave this a 5. The whole album is great, don't get me wrong, but damn, the falsettos in that song. So purdy
