No one is arguing that because they intended it, it sounds good. The logical path is that they intended it to sound this way meaning that to call it "bad" is basically redundant. Of course it's bad as in low quality and that doesn't mean people inherently think it's good. People who like it appreciate the production choice because of the aesthetic and mood or they overlook it because of the music. If you think it wouldn't change the aesthetic or mood, you can argue that, and I would disagree, but there's no point in harping on the rather objective fact that the production is of a low quality.
