This is tinnitus-inducing levels of bad dude. I'm all for the originals being better (I much prefer original you fail me to redux) but any improvements to this would be welcome

I totally get why someone would find this a bit much and that is a fair criticism for sure, but it was made this way on purpose. Like it wasn't a case of "best we could do" or something, they went out of their way to have it sound the way it does. I'm not advocating for not messing with originals or something for some semantic reason, just the way I see it if they wanted it to be clearer they could have easily done so, as is evidenced by Bergtatt and Kveldssanger.

Yeah but why does it make it better just because they wanted this sound? I hate the "they intended to do this" as a justification for why it sounds good. It isn't inherently good because they wanted it to sound this way. They set out to achieve a sound and they did, doesn't mean it's automatically great

There's a remaster of this somewhere I heard? I should check that. I legitimately love this album but it's almost unlistenable for the reasons I already stated. I hate tinnitus as well and this just hurts like hell to listen to with headphones

I'm not a huge fan of the production here but for me the music more than makes up for it.

Production is classic I have no interest in hearing a remaster tbh.

First-time Ulver listener, decided to blitz a few of their albums on a whim. Just listened to Bergtatt and enjoyed it... but I needed something this brutal tonight. Most of what I've been listening to lately is rather soft stuff, so this makes for a welcome change of pace.
