It's really not too bad, plus I am also a Turner fan, specially of his stuff with Yngwie.

Post-Dio Rainbow isn't bad, I think people just immediately hate any change in direction a band does from their original sound. Also Dio fans tend to be extremely loyal and just shit talk non-Dio Sabbath and non-Dio Rainbow just because it didn't have him in it.

Also true, though I personally don't think Rainbow had that problem
Except maybe Bent out of shape
They're new songs they've been releasing have been quality, especially the storm.

Rainbow did get worse with JLT for me tho, while there a few fantastic tracks they are undeniable generic pop rock, while with Dio they were better from a techincal point of view, had a way more varied sound and certainly had more identity
Down to Earth is where they truly succeed at pop rock for me. Still simple and catchy fun but the riffs and solos have way more weight to them and Bonnet who, for me is one hell of an underrated vocalist, gives the album a tons of personality

Kind of see why Lars liked Rasmussen's production on this enough to have him helm Ride the Lightning, the production's pretty damn good
