Opeth are one of the 2 death metal bands i like along with in flames, seems like the european death metal scene is so much better than america's. sorry to say

Great Review and excellent album. But i was just wondering something. You say that you dont like how long Opeth songs go for and how they usually drag out, yet you comment that the longest song on GR in only 11 minutes long. On Still Life the longest is 11.26, on Blackwater Park the longest in barely 12 and none of the songs of MAYH even go over 10 minutes. Is it that you justdislike all the music off those albums?

^^^ Those songs all have their strong points, but as I said, I felt they dragged on way too long. They would be good for a few minutes but then it would go into some kind of repetitive filer material, which I hated.
I'm starting to come around to more Opeth thanks to this album though. I've really been loving MAYH lately.

What a crappy review. Absolute garbage.
:P
I really liked this...still haven't digested all of it, as my copy has really bad quality. Waiting until it completely comes out so i can buy it.
From what I've heard, it sounds quite good.
Brilliant review as well (you know it, I know it, jesus over there knows it)

It's been officially released everywhere now, so I suggest you go and buy it. Excellent stuff by Opeth as usual.

I think he was joking.
I might get this. Opeth are boring a lot of the time but they also rule a lot of the time.

As I expected, this has overtaken Nevermore's This Godless Endeavor as the best album of the year. I'm currently in love with Hours of Wealth, such a beautiful track.

this is a very nasty rumor that i hope someone will dispell becuase im to lazy to find out for my self but my friend (who is a total Korn nut) tells me that Mikael Akerfeldt will be korns new guitarest , which i highly doubt

Tell you friend he's full of shit. Not only would Mikael never leave Opeth like that, but I doubt he would ever stoop to becoming Korn's guitarist. The man has integrity for God's sake.
Leper's right, this is easily the best album of the year alongside Nevermore.

I've only seen the first two seconds, but they were intriguing. I'm downloading it right now.

Brilliant album. After having listened to it a lot, I love it almost as much as Blackwater Park. Favorites for me are Ghost of Perdition, Reverie/Harlequin Forest, and Atonement.

Insanely good review. I've got this and when I first listened to it I thought 'Meh, nowhere near as good as Blackwater Park.' I read the review and went back and listened to it and now I realise that it's a lot better than I thought it was. I still don't like Baying of the Hounds - the first few minutes are far too cheesy - but I'm loving the last half of Atonement, and Hours of Wealth.

^^^ Hehehehe, thank you. That's like the ultimate compliment to know I've actually influenced someone. I glad everyone here likes the new stuff.
