That is become time itself is invested in the work
yeah it's suppose to be: that is, BECAUSE time itself is invested in the work.

Can a non-fanboy please review this hugely overrated album next time please?
Go for it? By all means I'd love to hear your opinion. My approach wasn't even to praise the album, it was to use it in a different means.

This is like writing an essay about how standard notation relates to one particular musician. Vague and pointless, that's my point.
|

This essay/review is absolutely spectacular (not to mention putting you one past me haha)
Sincerely though, even though this concentrated on one mere aspect, I feel every bit of analyzation I read on this album brings my understanding of ItAOtS closer to my grand opinion and feeling about ItAOtS, if that makes sense.

why would you want to shoot yourself over Plato's forms, you can't get a simpler topic in philosophy
lol this is so true

well I'm glad SeaAnemone. And yeah, Plato sucks, but he made sense to start my argument.

I have to agree with erasedcitizen. If I was looking for a review or an essay or even something in between- I'd still be lost after reading this. I don't mean to be a critical dick but I don't even feel like there's an argument here, let alone insightful points about the music.

this is one of the best reviews I've read on this site. well done, sir. I was skeptical about the amount of praise this album earned until I actually bothered to check it out. I was won over as soon as the accordion kicked in on the first track.

[posting this on 3 Aeroplane threads cause I tried to pick a favourite review of this album but couldn't cause these are literally 3 of the best writers sputnik has ever seen]
HOW did that show actually just happen. Someone e-pinch me hard cause I refuse to believe that something so magical took place tonight.
A phenomenal concert. Captivating, emotional, and every other adjective you could have possibly imagined attaching to a NMH reunion tour show. FUCK. ME. RUNNING.
p.s. and the opener didn't suck but was actually real fukin good!!!!

I know its become something of a cliche to attach the word "spiritual" to a concert experience, but I can't think of another adjective to adequately describe seeing NMH live. Glad you enjoyed a similar experience dude - what were the highlights?

^^^
the highlights were THE OLD GUY WITH THE WHITE BEARD who killed it with the brass and sang every word even when he had no mic for his voice. I thought for sure I'd just be focused on Jeff Mangum all night and the band would be supporting players but holy mother of god they brought it hard. song highlights...I mean, every song? In The Aeroplane Over The Sea kinda made me cry, two headed boy, allll the newish EP stuff (what?). It was a magnificent show ahhh I dont know.

The whole time I was like woah, when did George RR Martin join Neutral Milk Hotel? And agreed, the band were so tight. Yeah pretty much, it was just one constant highlight for me.
Can't believe how strange it is to be anything at all
