The Unforgiven is actually the best song on the album, and definitely up there with Metallica's best songs of all time. Dunno how you can say it's terrible...

It was definitely a 3.5-4 for me a few years ago. When I try and listen to it again I just can't really get through it easily. Of Wolf and Man is a sick song though, and The God That Failed.

Great review! I agree that it would have benefitted a bit of speed here and there but for me, the slow riffs accentuate the heaviness.

Even listening to it in 2009 doesn’t feel that dated, given that Metallica’s latest outputs have featured one of the ***tiest production jobs since whores produced blow jobs with teeth.
