I did not want to believe all of the negative soundoffs, I really didn't, but I'm halfway through Anarchy, My Dear and I'm honestly staring at my iTunes, grimacing, wondering what the fuck happened to this band and to Max in particular. It's not pure garbage, it's just... uninspired and sort of lazy. Though, "So Good" and now "Sheep" sound alright. I think I have a problem with the overall production value as well. It sounds, I don't know, tinny.

@Patrick Fannon most of it is very lazy, not uninspired, just executed in the poorest and dare I say gayest of ways. It's mostly utter shit. So Good is prolly the worst song Max has ever written. Some of the shit on that album is awkward, indulgent and musically vile. However, Peace Out is absolutely fucking brilliant.

Yeah, I guess I see where you're coming from. Good distinction. I think the first four songs are horrendous, climaxing with what seems to be the consensual pick for the worst song, "Admit It Again." I don't think "So Good" is all that bad, though. I kind of like that song and "Sheep." "Peace Out" is an excellent song. I'd venture to say one of his best. Just listened to "Overbiter" and now listening to "Of Steel." Both are supremely averege.

well Burn a Miracle is great imo i really think its an awesome song. And yeah Peace Out is brilliant. Admit it Again is fucking horrible. So Good was i mean....

c mon dude song blows so hard. Overbiter and Of Steel are lazy and boring. His songwriting always does this weird hit or miss thing........its either brilliant and insanely clever overdramatic and stupid. Idk, he fucked up with this one. Hey, at least we got one great tune from it.

I need to listen to the album once or twice more through, just to give the guy a fair shake. I'm just going off first impressions, Neutral, so perhaps I'm mistaken about "So Good" or perhaphs it was such a relentlessly awfwul assualt for four straight tracks that I was just relieved to hear something halfway listenable. I couldn't agree more about his being hit or miss, especially on In Defense Of The Genre. I thought the self-titled was a bit more consistent, though.

I think I might have to go ahead and stick with my initial assessment, though; this sounds fairly uninspired to me. As much as I hate to be an armchair analyst, I think his getting married and finding contentment sort of took some of the fire out of his gut. He sounds like a formerly-ferocious neutered pit bull, howling at a non-existent moon, dreaming of his glory days spent scrapping it up.

write a review and make that your summary because your one hundred percent write. Except I gotta say, the self titled is definitely more consistent and has some very catchy stuff on it, and some awesome lyrics. Thats not to say its without its awful songs and retarded lyrics either, but its the most consistent and listenable record hes done since IARB. When the self titled hits, it really hits, its smart and nice. The new one is like worse than Baseball.

I actually think In Defense is pretty consistent, despite it's length

Maybe I will, Neutral. Thanks for the encouragement. I've been toying with the idea for awhile, so I guess now's as good a time as any. I'll see what I can come up with.

@Reverend I actually disagree. I think its got some god awful songs on it, but not actually that many. However, its disorganized, has too many bad guest singers, and it just doesnt work for me idk. this is much better.

I know I'm supposed to hate it and I know why (fuck, it's so unoriginal), but I don't.

Leaked pretty early.

After a few listens...the new album is pretty damn good.

First half of the album is great. Peace Out is the best. The only songs that haven't really grown on me yet are Overbiter and Of Steel.
