The sound of television in the background as the junkie ties the strap around his upper arm and clenches it in his teeth, inserting the syringe into the vein of his wrist. He pushes it down, the blood flows into needle and the sweet, sweet pleasure rolls its way into his bloodstream. Numbness, an emotional blank. The comedy show on television and its canned laughter is very distant now, and as time passes a man in the corner of the room plugs in an electric guitar and plays a few fuzzy notes. The stimulating nature of this dissonance between silence and the television in the background cannot be understated, the relationship between sound sharpened to a point with this acute, beautiful awareness. This is perfection.
The man continues to play his guitar as the never quite so haunting comedy show continues to be heard, somewhere, somehow. He is not a particularly proficient player but this does not matter in this myopic haze, the fuzzy, burnt out timbral quality to his guitar and what it is doing to the particles in the air reveals something that should be obvious but isn't, that the only true perfection is in imperfection. This notion feels so clear as the guitar, television and their relationship with the silence between them work together to create their own unusual symphony, something very private, very profound but never to be appreciated by those who could never understand. This is tunnelvision, staring towards the light at the end of the tunnel whilst doped up in a chair and Mr. Myagi's Magic (but gloomy) melodies play to the heavens.
Or is it just really some guy jamming on guitar whilst watching some TV over in Lebanon, I don't know.

I actually like some of the riffs here, but it's way to repetitive and the album, or whatever this is, is way too short at only 15:37. Plus, what's with the TV?

Reminds me of what a friend and I did a few weekends ago - got totally blazed, whipped out our guitars and amps and filled two sides of a tape of jamming. We've jammed before so we had a few things going together, but that probably made up 1/8 of the entire tape, the rest was just incoherent notes or the two of us trying to play entirely different things.

If you were to make the argument that the black metal scene has descended completely and irrevocably into deeper and deeper depths of retardation and self-parody, this would be a great release to support your point. Honestly, if you wanted to say black metal was did and your entire argument was simply playing this, I would probably flip over the table and say "FUCK IT, I'M DONE" before storming off and buying some Godspeed! You Black Emperor CDs. This is fucking horrible, seriously, and I guess it makes sense that this is associated with other similarly terrible and self-parodizing project Stalaggh. The one good thing I can think about Kafan is that this is the first and so far only release from the project, and I'm hoping with all my heart it's also the last.
Imagine for a moment a version of the first Burzum album recorded by a mentally retarded person. The result is probably very similar to this. Kafan's music is uniformly slow and meandering, and, it should go without saying, ball-breakingly boring and obnoxious. 'Injecting Evil In Thy Veins' is a new level of insipid; the overly primitive programmed drums lumber away at their one or two beats per song while a terribly recorded guitar meanders away with the same three or four notes over the top. The (distorted, of course, for those who can't actually sing) vocals are like five decibels louder than any of the instruments, so they drown out the terrible music any time they pop in. I'm not really sure if I should consider that a pro or a con, really.
This is about the definition of bedroom black metal, so I'm not sure why Kafan has a position of so much greater legitimacy than, I don't know, fucking Satanicnundestroyer14/88 or whatever the fuck the kids are listening to these days. Also, to top it off, if the original versions of the tracks weren't enough, on the CD version of this release Xardas is awesome enough to REMIX the exact same tracks to sound just as shitty and bland, but in a more distorted and reverbed way. I have a million questions about this demo but I'm not going to ask any of them because I fear that I'd kill myself if I heard someone try to answer them in a legitimate way.
