RAINING BLOOD
is the extent of what i listen to from slayer

Review pretty much echoes my sentiments.
Am I the only one who misses Paul Bostaph? He challenged Slayer to not rely on their comfort zone, which is what generated this album and Christ Illusion - Good albums, but not great.
Perhaps God Hates Us All was the only superb Bostaph album, but WOW was it superb. Seems like you're exactly right in saying Slayer hanothing to prov, and effortlessly just pissng out (still good) albums - howevr what could some effort produce?

To AtaVanhalen: If yu like Disciple, YOU NEED GOD HATES US ALL. Happens to be my favorite - As I say in my previous comment, Bostaph pushed them to a superb level of play on that album.
Other than God (which if you like Disciple, the whole album is true to that form, yes, Reign's the classic, and Seasons has a little of everything.

I'm a total sucker for albums that are good even if nothing new

I'm the same as Conor. I didn't get to this during the weekend and that means I'll put it on hold for the time being as my time schedule is really busy.
Also, great review Jake!

^ Hehe you should definitely enjoy this then.
I'll forever remember getting in the order for the stock of this and I was like "Holy f@&k it's here!" on the 29th of last month. I had my own copy of the special edition within five minutes :')

good for you! Yeah I have a busy schedule (like mentioned already) so this will have to wait for a week or two, but if i do get to this, I am expecting some nice tunes even though it's just a typical Slayer record.

yea just the typical slayer record with terrible production

I like the production on this album, as I did with DM. This is especially good compared to CI, which was just a brick wall of sound.

wtf CI raaaaapes this production wise man the drums are so fuckin weak here which pisses me off..its fuckin dave! they should be punchy like CI

I don't find the drums that weak. The bass drums are a little lacking, but the snare and crash cymbal tear right through.

| |
Album Rating: 2.0
I agree that the snare and crash are very prominent in the mix, but I hate it when an album's production combines prominent cymbal action with a very treble-heavy guitar-tone. It just makes my ears bleed. DM had a little bit of that going on too.
You really have to listen to it out of the right speakers though. And definitely not through an iPod.

Urgh iPod earphones are horrendous with this.

Just get proper headphones

GHUA and DiM are nu-metal thrash/groove wank suck fests, minus a few tracks. Bostaph was boring and nowhere near as good as Dave. The only good Bostaph record was Divine Intervention.
This album is making me drop my rating for Christ Illusion down to a 3.5. There is much more thrash on here.
