Said it before and i'll say it again. My favourite album ever. Made me pick up the guitar and for that reason alone it is classic.

Ha ha. There have been alot of farewells in 2009, most notably the latter months but it just shows sputnik is doing it's job in seperating the weak and the strong. Good job gang, have a pumpkin cupcake on me.

There's a big difference between someone's true opinion and choosing to play the devil's advocate. Sure it's main stream, but I've noticed that just reading most reviews here that liking somthing that's even possibly mainstream is worse then getting AID's. Also, way too many people here give reviews bashing bands and albums stating way too generic answers like "bad vocals' or 'the guitars suck' without really explaining. As far as I know, I could find the greatest album ever and write a review stating the vocals and music suck with no reasoning and it still would be 'my opinion'.

Agree with Alligator 100%, this album belongs in the top 5 of the decade at least.

I don't see very many reviews that you're referring to. Sputnik's reviewing standards are very high and if someone does just say something like "the vocals suck" without giving a reason, then they're gunna get negged. And to say that no one here likes mainstream music just isn't true.

Well, I'd consider it remarkable the second song on a Green Day album (which built their careers on albums with nothing but 2 min punk songs and being able to play 25 min sets fitting in 10+ songs) is 9 min's long, was released as a single and is one of my favorite off the album. The album takes a completely different direction from all their other albums, I'd say it would be more unremarkable if they just regurgitated like Shenanigans Vol II.

Why is a 9 minute song remarkable?

Jesus of Suburbia was cut down to about 6 minutes for the radio.

it's not so much a 9 minute song as much as it is five 2-minute songs stitched together somewhat coherently to give off the guise of a 9 minute song

Okay but my question still stands. What's so remarkable about it?

Remarkable
–adjective
1. notably or conspicuously unusual; extraordinary: a remarkable change.
2. worthy of notice or attention.
Having a punk band who've made their careers on short, straight to the point punk songs that propelled them to the mainstream choose to create a thematic album that features a 9 min song??? That seems "notable" and "unusual" to me for such a band. Don't remember the Dead Kennedy's, Sex Pistols or the Ramones doing such a thing.
