Saw them at prog nation in Terminal 5 in NYC. It was fucking memorable even if it was a little weird being the only wee 14 year old there. Some girl passed out on me during one of the performances...I think it was Opeth.

Saw these guys open for In Flames a few weeks ago. I could see the fanboys' jizz flying from back at the merch tables.

are they as boring live as they are on cd?

I think Fossil Genera would be a better closer than SttM to whoever said SttM is a poor closer

are they as boring live as they are on cd?
Tommy Rogers had bronchitis so I'll let you be the judge of that.

Pretty sure they played Ants in the Sky live the night they played at Terminal 5.

They just played Ants of the Sky, then segued Viridian into White Walls.
Tommy was much better live than I expected actually. He really knew how to get the crowd going too.

I'm a super huge BTBAM fan and the album is only a 4 for me right now.
The rating will probably go up after repeated listens, but with the awesomeness that is Horse the Band's Desperate Living, I may not listen to TGM as much as I should

Tommy is an excellent frontman live. He has to be cause Paul and Dusty (Dusty especially) just stand there. During one of their shows that I attended, Dusty actually sat down on an amp during Viridian. It was depressing. Although I hear he has really bad back problems.
[QUOTEYou lucky son of a bitch. I hope they'll come down to Florida when they tour next year so I have a chance of seeing them live.[/QUOTE]
I saw them play Colors live in its entirety and it was fucking great.

The review does sound a bit angry and I disagree with Alaska being a crappier take on tSC as I dont like the tSC that much and Alaska marked the transition from them being a metalcore band and moving into prog-metal territory

well if that means he couldnt sing loudly then i guess they were better

Only thing that makes TSC and Alaska close is Tommy's subpar vocals in TSC. He sounds like he is fucking dying.

Quadruple post FTW. Also, where is Altmer's review so I can neg it?

I still think Fire for a Dry Mouth is the best thing they've ever done. Followed by Sun of Nothing and then Selkies.

How long do they play live? A couple hours?
Nah, they only play a little more than an hour. I've seen them three times but they only headlined once. It's almost pointless
going to see them if they're not direct support or headlining. 20-30 mins is nowhere near long enough.

Review was good. A little self-indulgent in masturbation metaphors, though...

Yeah, I do miss how he changed pitches when he screamed. Especially on the s/t. But there is something about his screaming that bugs me os tsc. Don't get me wrong, though, I still enjoy the album a lot.

Yeah, I think they're headlining right now, but they should have another headlining tour after this one. At least I hope so.
TOTAL NON-SEQUITUR: I wonder if they will ever have a music video again...

Not with these incredibly long songs they won't.

Obfuscation could be a music video. I really liked the video for Alaska.
EDIT: Also, the more I listen to Obfuscation the more and more I appreciate it.
