that piece is hardly minimal, doug (though it is lovely). Max Richter is one of my favorite minimalist composers, listen to On the Nature of Daylight.

Glass and Reich are pretty boss too, but in a more meditave, less emotive way

agreed which leads to the problem of why I never want to listen to it. And Kirgasm, I would argue (though I'm in the minority) that Sigur Ros never really had all that many ideas to begin with. Agaestis is their best whole album, Takk has some really good songs but that album has a lot of lackluster tracks too, and their newest one kinda blew outside of a few songs. Sigur Ros have a downward trajectory from my point of view. Plus when I saw them live I was really disappointed, no strings or horns = boring.

Yes to all of this.

Haha well compared to a lot of the stuff he writes it is extremely minimalist. He is quite a hectic composer you see.

Great review! They don't seem to have loads of ideas, but the ideas they do have are good.

I agree with this review. Although it has some really good moments to it, i simply cant listen to it the whole way through.

^ yeah, and at IntheShallows, agreed about 4.3 rating, most people love this album and I can see why, and it's not like I hate this album, 3 = good, I just thought since my opinion was so different then everybody elses (review wise) then I'd put it to paper. Cheers for the pos.

I like the review, I agree. It's generally boring, but it does have a relatively strong effect on occasion. Most times it just pisses me off.

this is exactly how I feel about Sigur Ros... and post-rock in general. Great review.

I'm sad that I missed out on this review as I now feel mine was unnecessary.

This is better than mine I have to say -it has a lot more character -and you did a great job. I will vote even though it's a little late.

Haha, also props for the reception the users gave this. I had a little more trouble thanks to a double opinion.

Listening to this while doing homework right now. Only time it's remotely good.

Agree. This is probably the most underwhelming of their albums for me. It's all excellently done in theory, but I don't really feel anything from it.
