Man Swollen and Halo rips
Not liking this as much as Red Album so far since I prefer the more riff-centricness of it but honestly this is still great

caught the chicago date of their red and blue tour last night.....goddamn, these records are so good but seeing them live was an incredible experience. It was my fifth time seeing Baroness and that might've been their best

Color me jealous... I haven't seen Baroness live since they were touring for the Blue Record with Mastodon and BTBAM back in the late aughts. It was an amazing show and they knocked it out of the park. Would love to see them again but they never have a show less than like 8 hours' drive away.

I saw them for Purple and the setlist was underwhelming

Yeah, Purple was definitely not as fun of an era for Baroness, in my opinion. Though I started with Yellow & Green, so I didn't like the lack of more proggy elements in Purple. I'm glad that they brought that stuff back for their more recent outputs.

I went to that tour too MTObsidian!
I believe Valliant Thorr opened too lol
The chicago venue that they are playing at was really small and intimate. They packed the house and there was a sturdy pit the whole time. They are just such a well-oiled performance machine at this point, and absolutely still have the juice live

Ahahaha--oh god, I totally forgot about Valiant Thor. I'll never forget that lead singer with no shirt and a beer belly. It was amazing.
Yeah, by some miracle that tour made a stop in Billings, MT, so I was able to go! They were in a decently small venue that time as well (an old gymnasium), and it was frickin' packed. Such a great show and I got to meet one of my bass heroes, Dan Briggs, that day. I had never heard much of Baroness before that night but the way they tied all of the songs together with waves of drone effects and feedback blew my mind.
