Ah damn that sucks. Thought it might fit cuz I've been using it as my background (set to stretch) on a 32" widescreen and it looks pretty good, but my res is 1366x768. I'd imagine stretching it to fit 1920x1080 would make it look pretty weird. Oh well, I tried lol.

Haha no worries, but thanks. I'd imagine it might work well on my phone though!

This is some really solid DM, not sure it does too much to separate itself from the pack but I enjoyed it.

well thats probably because they were one of the pioneers, its more that others that came later didnt do much to separate themselves form the pioneers.

Well yeah, but this came out at a similar time to many more interesting releases. Whether those releases were slightly before or after isn’t relevant, unless you’re a music history nerd who values influence over everything else. I didn’t say this was derivative for its era, I just can’t seperate it in my own mind.

first you said "not sure it does too much to separate itself from the pack", now youre talking about how interesting it is. two different things. Carnage definitely had a distinct sound.

Honestly I think this album still has a distinctive sound. Despite the Swedish dm style being copied so many times, this album just has such a primitive, evil vibe to it that the others don't.

I like this as much or more than LHP tbh. Probably a bit redundant to compare this to LAEFS which is def better than this, but this is basically Dismember anyway. I mean obv it started as Michael Amott's band, but I know Fred Estby contributed to these songs too, and prolly other members. Plus 4 songs being Dismember demos. So yeah I pretty much consider them one in the same. I'm sure I'm not the only one but w/e lol

@Adolf: since when did I say this was interesting? I actually said other releases out at a similar time were more interesting than this one.

I don't think he meant you called this interesting at all. The way I read his post, seemed more like he was trying to point out that calling other bands more interesting vs saying these guys don't do much to separate from the pack are two different things.

I don’t have a time machine so am therefore uninterested in the distinction, this doesn’t sound particularly interesting to me. I cannot legislate for whether that would be the case upon its release or not. Apologies for the confusion, maybe the ‘separates/pack’ line was misleading.

As far as their sound being distinct, nobody was doing this kind of primitive, hardcore punk influenced death metal with that groove factor and an almost deathgrindy approach at times. Plus the way this was produced has never been even nearly replicated, as far as i know.

I think the real question is it even possible to replicate this? I don't think so.

But I really don't get how one can like Dismember and Entombed but not like this. To each their own of course, but out of curiosity Demon, what do you think of the re-recordings of Torn Apart and Deathevocation at the end of Like An Ever Flowing Stream?

Torn Apart's intro riff is the best thing ever.
