Yeah. What bugs me most about this album is mainly the lack of Staley's vocals. The effects to make his voice all animated or whatever it is really take away from the songs for me.

Well, he was at the height of his drug addiction here, and it most certainly effected the sound of the album, unfortunately in a mostly negative way.

But his vocals on Shame in You are so like... unintentionally poignant

Yeah, Ill be the first one to admit that there a couple clunkers on here but it has a charm to it that I really like. Definitely not Dirt/Jar of Flies level but probably my third favorite of the Layne era.

Ironically, Alice In Chains arguably best quality is the downfall of this album. (Lenn Staley)

I really haven't heard any other grunge bands so they're all I could name.

Vedder is more powerful and talented as a singer, but Staley scores massive bonus points with the unique creepiness his voice carries over. Cobain was never actually a great vocalist but perfect for Nirvana, a similar thing goes for Weiland, and Cornell was great in Soundgarden too. I must admit that although I absolutely love grunge, I have yet to hear Blind Melon.

You really should man. Their music is kind of uplifting (can't think of a diff word) compared to the others, Music is much more folky also. Much softer and more sensitive also. If you do start, go s/t first. Then Soup, then Nico. So basically in order. haha

Agreed. Those wails he did all the time were damn great.
My order anyway: Vedder > Staley > Cornell > Cobain > Weiland
