good review willie. i probably won't bother with this because anyhthing other than gothic and shades of god has never interested me, and i barely listen to those two now.
Well, if you listen to those than this might at least hold your interest the few times you do listen to it. The riffs on this remind me of stuff from the latest Asphyx album, actually.

it kind of leaves the reader unsure about the surprises and forces him to lsiten to this, aka it's a very clever line.
Thanks. I just knew I didn't want to ruin any surprise that this album has or create expectations that might not be exactly what is going on either.

is there really much of a death metal influence? because you talk about shades of god quite a bit but there's no mention of gothic, and i hardly consider shades of god as a death metal album. how does this sound in comparison to gothic?

No, there's not a lot of death metal influence overall. The closest he gets is with that vocal style I was talking about that is almost a full growl, but isn't. The Asphyx riffs I'm referring to are during their doomier sections. That's why I think this shares more with Shades... than gothic, but this defintely has more doom elements than Shades of God.

that was better than i expected it to be. riff progressions were cool, and his gravelly vocals are almost as good as they were on shades. not a fan of the cleans though. production is really clean and that it makes it feel really synthetic, something i don't generally like in metal.

will download and give it a listen if i remember tomorrow

Cool. I like the cleans, but I'm also one of the few fans of all of the band's styles. And we all know I love clean productions ;)

haha yeah, i think it's why i'm not such a huge fan of industrial and similar styles, and why old school death and black just hits that spot

Yeah, I rec'd it to you. I was originally going to review it, but the Megadeth review took too long. It's an awesome album. That IWR band was pretty cool too. If you like them try a band called "Stray".

Will do, a specific blog (RequiemOfMadness) has become my all time consuming task of acquring as much aggro-tech, electro-goth, and uhh....anything similar as much as possible. Alien Vampires are pretty nuts too. Do you know any band as crazy as Psyclon Nine with chick vocals?

There's a band called Unter Null that is just one chick. She does everything. Actually, Stray and Unter Null are the same girl. Stray isn't as harsh as Unter Null. I'll have to remember that blog title (or just remember to come back to these comments). Anyway:

Stray - Abuse by Proxy

Unter Null - The Failure Epiphany

might make this my first album by these guys
This is a good place to start, actually (or In Requiem which is catchier).
