I would never call Underoath metal!!! theyre screamo at the best! they played here in belgium just this friday...Again thr not metal at all! and if u really come to think of it there christian rock, hate me if u want for saying this btw:P

Well new underOATH is screamo. But Cries Of Past and Act Of Depression are metal. Christian metal, The Changing Of Times is metalcore, they lost a lot of their christian-ness here but it's still there. and they don't even deserved to be called christian anymore with They're Only Chasing Safety, i heard they dedicate every song to Jesus Christ at shows but that's not enough to be considered christian rock, only song considered christian is Some Will Seek Forgiveness.

This is underOATH. Not this new stuff.
They should've changed their name when Dallas left, because its a disgrace to this great music IMO.
Good review btw

"i seriously doubt that, especially with the new singer. theyre too much like every other band nowdays. Maybe if they got dallas back they could do it. "
You apparently havent heard spencer actaully sing, Listen to some stuff from one of his old band This Run Through, he can definatly handle the task of singing/screaming like dallas used to if thats what underoaths intentions were.

These guys are amazing, I'd say this album definatley pulls away from the screamo/emo roots. Still you can tell it's them. And i love that they don't sell out, or change their beliefs.

EP = Extended Play, funny because they always have a short track listing.

Being a pretty big UnderOATH fan, this is how ive always seen it
Act Of Depression - Screamo
Cries Of The Past - Christian death metal/ mix of some screamo
The Changing Of Times - Screamo
Theyre Only Chasing Safety - A very radio friendly version of screamo
Define The Great Line - Metalcore?

I don't really see The Changing of Times as Screamo...but oh well
|
| |
abuse of the term screamo ftw?
This album is better than Act of Depression, but not by much. oh and fyi
Act of Depression-hardcore infused black metal
Cries of the Past-black metal
Changing of the times-lite metalcore/bordering on popcore
They're Only Chasing Safety-hardcore Hawthorne Heights
Define the Great Line-post hardcore/bordering on metalcore
|
| |
good but its no tocs

and motleyidiot they can post whatever the **** they want so you know what pop-core metalcore hardcore goth-core death-core emo-core rap-core.

i think it's worth noting that the keyboardist joined the band right before they made this record, and he himself says that he didn't really know how to play at the time; he just kinda picked it up as they went along.
awesome CD; ties with Changing of Times as my fav.
good review

I like these 2 earlier albums, but the in your face Christianity is too much for me to handle in large doses.

the new stuff is a lot less cheesy and the songwriting is much more professional.
the changing of times is still their best album.
