You Are Invited is an indie sadboy classic

I can totally relate to the meaning behind the song, that definitely isn't the problem, it just didn't have much going on instrumentally in comparison to many of the other cuts. Sometimes simplicity works so maybe it'll be a grower, I just don't know if they vox are quite strong enough to carry a slower song with an emotional connection like that.

The slow build of the electronic bits in the second verse is so delicious though snd really give you that feel ZombieDuck mentioned. I like how it goes from totally minimalistic to bombastic back and forth. Classic tune.

Yeah this is excellent. Which of their other releases do I check for the energetic/crazier side of their sound (if any?) Those tracks seem to be my favourites although it's definitely grown on me as a complete album.

The Dismemberment Plan Is Terrified is apparently more energetic/crazier Demon from what SandwichBubble had told me

I dunno, I find that this band delivers more on variety and interesting melodies/songwriting structures than energy. not to say that they don't have energetic songs, they obviously do, but I wouldn't use that as a selling point for this band to anyone.

Yeah selling point of these guys is definitely their style of songwriting but also the left field melodies are incredibly refreshing.

yeah they have a real knack at making things both sound poppy/catchy and utterly outrageous at the same time. fantastic interplay of vocal and instrumental melodies.

Yeah but it want both interesting songs/melodies & a little energy, haha. I don’t mind the slower songs as part of the overall package, my favourites just happen to be stuff like Magician & Girl O Clock.
