"although again I wouldn't deny that there's a certain brio and uplift devoid of irony in the chorus and how it relates to the verses"
Thank you!

I'm liking the song more as I try to figure out its effect on me! I guess I just like the idea that freedom to move through the world is important even outside of the promise of enjoying what you see and feel there. For someone who is very familiar with "the jitters" Travis describes in the song of the same title, I think it's an important sentiment somehow

Well it's nice for idealistic idea, but I guess my problem is that it doesn't translate well to reality at all and the rest of this album actually seeks pretty grounded
I much prefer songs like "A Life of Possibilities" which I think addresses freedom is a far more realistic and enjoyable way
(also thanks for having a real conversation with me about this lol)

Yeah np. I now feel silly because the balance between the corrosive, don't-like-parties attitude and the "YOU ARE INVITED" is probably a textbook case of "irony" but I just wanted to play up that I think it's not insincere

I don't understand how you can view an albums lyrics as entirely black and white, there's an obvious irony which comes with 'you are invited'

@Robertsona: Yeah even if there's irony in the song, the message is a bit confused
Maybe the song is Travis's way of saying that he has no idea what he wants...

The message isnt confused at all, youre just reading into it very poorly

honestly Ars, re-read all of the last two pages here and you'll see that your complaints essentially stem from the song not affirming your own worldview
which is fine, you don't have to like it, whatever
but that doesn't make it insincere or confused, it just doesn't speak to something true to you
everybody move on

Fair enough and yeah I know
"but that doesn't make it insincere or confused, it just doesn't speak to something true to you"
I can agree to this
