I just listened to Anna Molly and I don't hear it. Travis' voice is much more unique than Brandon's.

Most of this album is great, even though his voice is a little whinier than I would like, but it has 1 huge lowlight:
"You Are Invited" has such cool music, but it's plagued by some of the lamest, most saccharine bullshit hallmark card lyrics ever. Like is knowing he's welcome to go to places that won't make him happy really comforting to him? Enough where he'd pass on the advice he heard to someone else?
The lyrics in a nutshell: "Wow that was great advice my ex-girlfriend and a guy at a disco gave me about feeling welcome at a place that makes no sense to feel welcome at, I still feel like shit though, better pass the advice on to my crying neighbor even though I'm unsure about what he's crying about!"
It's also just flat out not true. You're not invited by everyone to go anywhere. Often it's very awkward and terrible for you to go to places where you're unwelcome. And even if we restrict the advice to just social situations like parties, it's still garbage advice. Like why the fuck would you tell someone who feels unwelcome "well you can go wherever you want, you're invited by everyone!" So someone's invited to a party where the host hates their guts? They're invited to a house where people there are going to make them feel like an outsider? I don't get it :/
Having felt like an outsider in a place where I feel like I shouldn't have makes me resent these lyrics even.
