Surprised how much this has grown on me, good album! Resistance, Unnatural Selection and MK Ultra pips anything from Black Holes for me (asides from Maps, maybe). They're really strong songs that sadly get overlooked.

Oh 100%! Absolution is my fave.

i have a photographic memory of painting outdoors in the sun while absolution and random access memories took turns in the portable stereo...

OK, this album also suffers from a nasty dead spot with USoE and Guiding Light to be fair, a little more bothersome than the one on Black Holes. It's moments like these that makes me bump down ratings lol. Goddammit Muse!

this isn't the go-to muse album. it is, however, a pleasant encounter if you are exploring their catalog. 2nd Law has its moments as well. Drones, sadly, seems to be the point I stopped caring altogether.

Agreed! I need to relisten to The 2nd Law, I thought it was pretty decent when I first heard it. Not quite as good as Resistance though, definitely felt a bit rougher in areas. Drones is a miserable listen for me. Will of the People is pretty fun though if you haven't checked it, I treat it like a Weezer album, almost like a self parody lol.
