I think Marley Marl brought the best track overall (i still can't stop listening to "Pyrex Vision"), but Dilla and RZA brought some pretty awesome tracks as well. The only tracks i can't really listen to in full are "Surgical Gloves" (i know kill me, but that Alchemist production is starting to get on my nerves), "Have Mercy", and "10 Bricks" (Cappadonna just sounds worse every time i hear him).

Are you all listening to the beats? they're dumb. Lyrically this is really strong, but the beats are wack

the beats are great. it's classic wu with a smidgen of a 21st century feel... aka, really atmospheric and desolate, emphasizing and bolstering the verbal portion perfectly. it's not supposed to be busy - more so the opposite/ very minimal in contrast to the rapping.

I don't mind minimalistic beats, so long as the beats do what they're supposed to do and keep your head groovin with the MC, but most of the beats here are way too simple. A lot of times after just a couple of verses into a song i'm too uninterested to care what they're saying. There are a few really good songs on here, but most are boring.

Glad I ran into this album through good ole' sputnik...don't like this quite enough to give it a five but I may bump it up after I give it a few more spins.
