This is the first album I ever heard that didnt "kick ass" In '77,we were all into Purple,Sabbath,Rush,BTO,Kiss,ZZ Top and Montrose. I hadnt even heard Zeppelin yet! A friend in Oregon was into Floyd. I had just moved there and had never heard of this Floyd guy! Ha ha. He told me to put it on while no one else was around and hear the whole thing without distraction. Being 18 yrs old in 1977,I smoked a couple bowls and waited for Purple meets Sabbath or something to happen. I had heard all the Beatles lp's as a little kid so I knew that there were other things out there besides hard rock. About a quarter of the way into the album I kinda knew the ass kicking was never coming...... But this shits good! Real good! A Revelation! The weed didnt hurt either! I was gonna listen to Animals first figuring it was gonna be some "savage shit"!!! I was told to hear Dark Side first so I did. Didnt know there were non hard rock bands that could be still be good. Everything on radio was disco. I thought mabey Dark Side was this Floyd guys mellow album and Animals would end up being 1977 meets Slayer! Didnt happen...........I had never heard of Pink Floyd. Thats how I spent one day in '77!
