Think I prefer Hot Rats to this gotta agree.

One of my favorite album covers right here though.

I mean Hot Rats is way easier on the ears l, but it lacks a lot of Zappa's personality and isn't really all that innovative for him except maybe Willie and Gumbo.

I love it don't get me wrong (it's my 5th favorite Zappa) but it's kinda of like Zappa-lite

some residents albums (fingerprince, duck stab, commercial album) are pretty similar to ween. some (debut, eskimo, not available) not.

to get back to Zappa

I think everybody is right to some extent. Zappa's absurdity along with his genius satirist lyrics are great, I have to be in the mood for some of the mid seventies adolescence hi-jinks, I truly think he dumbed it down not to be so heady, because he got the rep for being too intellectual, lyrically and musically, I always thought when getting into him that he didn't let his band play enough, he had the best swinging band but didn't let them play, but i think know it was all for effect, because he did find times that he let them play.

rambling I know

You're right though, although I'm always in the mood for his brand of humor

I can be a cynical fuck sometimes so I don't mind it

the thing i love most about Zappa, he is as cynical as I am and uses humor to show it, kinda like Vonnegut.

"See what you did Fripp? You've misled someone."

If I mislead someone into listening into Ween, shouldn't that make you happy considering you shill them everywhere on the site? lmao

Potentially true...but what if SirLord goes into a Ween album expecting The Residents and gets sorely disappointed that they're not really too alike.

With that said SirLord, if you're interested, check The Mollusk. You'd like if because it has prog elements (but is mostly goofing on them.)

Yeah man

Damn Zappa for trying to overdub the drums on the 80s remaster!

It sounds really clean and 80s, instead of dark and 60s
