What am I missing with this one? Celestia and Oceanic were amazing. I've spun this 5 times and I'm about ready to give up.

I guess the two before had the drive and the signature post-metal grooves. This has a lot of buildups and empty space which, most of the time, are tedious.

That sludgy, crushing, heavy sound that's all over the previous two. I'm still fairly new to post-metal so excuse some of the ignorance.

None of their albums from this point out are going to sound like their first two. Once you go through their discography, this record may make more sense to you in context.

How does ones not grip their armchair or something so tightly out of sheer suspense as to where the buildup of Syndic Calls will go next?

I’m like Batman. When I see a post metal bat signal I’m there.
