@sizeofanocean It seems that Turner's endgame was to make monolithic Sludge Metal albums with elements of Free Improvisation which is what he has done with SUMAC over the last decade or guitar-driven noise such as in his solo albums. He even went as far as to say that he didn't like ITAOT and WR that much in a 2019 interview.

yeah, Turner could well change his mind later in life. A case of an artist being too 'close' to their art perhaps. Hopefully with reflection he can be proud of all his achievements. WR (especially) is worthy of Isis earlier legacy for sure, just different
I definitely put this album on a pedestal though, to the point where I sometimes plan almost a week in advance to decide when I'll be listening to it (but not a moment sooner!)
in fact I will go a step further this time, I'm bookmarking 5th March (13 days away)

@VlacDrac which is really regrettable imo, WR is really great too. Unfortunately anything he did with SUMAC is unenjoyable for me, especially when started the improv stuff

LP Prices
I shudder. I found Oceanic for $50 out in the wild last year, to my great surprise. I expect that's at least where this would land.

I was able to snag a mint used copy of 180g Oceanic in like 2014 for 35$, even then that was a steal especially w/ the condition it arrived in. Whomever that discogs user was they're a real one.

I've got the Robotic Empire pressings of Oceanic and Panop, looks like they're in the $80-140 range. Good lord man, these are reissues.

@Sharenge yes it is, I have a copy and I gotta love how much effort they put into the packaging. The 2021 re-issue from Ipecac, while providing records of beautiful colors, the packaging is a bit feeble.
