But really..this album is good. And "Essplode" isn't the best track. XD

Essplode ruuuuules, as does In The Singing Box. Otherwise a very tough listen, but still not nearly as horrendous as I thought it'd be

Yeah man it's really good, but the "proper mood" is a must. I've found myself listening to it on days where I'm hungover and my brain is more or less mush because I only got 4 hours of sleep, where listening to static and head-pounding LFOs are sweet, sweet candy to my ears. Tunes to zone out to. Pop music this is not, but tell me "Ahhh Good Country" isn't catchy in its own hypnotic way and I'll show you a green dog.

Please do yourself a favor and try it, no matter how agonizing it might be at first.

Really don't get how people think this is painful to listen to. The screeches near the beginning of Spirit They've Gone are fucking abhoerrent, especially with how infrequent they are. This takes the more ambient qualities of that album and exploits them, and subsequently tones down the noise passages, at least in terms of volume/mixing.

Might just be the version I listened to on Spotify though, so idk.

i seriously don't get the hate for this

i'm thoroughly convinced people just listen to this once and immediately compare it to MPP and deem it bad because this focuses so much on electronics and noise

I'd say this is on the level of CHz, definitely leagues about Painting

idk I don't really feel like this has the same charm as the other stuff from that era, and Spirit They're Gone feels a lot more cohesive (if probably by accident).

I mean that being said I don't spend a lot of time with this one cause I didn't like it the first time I heard it and I'd rather listen to their other stuff

I'm gonna have to someday cause I really like their early stuff. Listening to Strawberry Jam now, haven't listened to anything after Feels yet cause I don't know if I'll like it or not

"i'm thoroughly convinced people just listen to this once and immediately compare it to MPP and deem it bad because this focuses so much on electronics and noise"

more like they listened to this once and immediately condemned it as animal collectives worst album because that is what they are told to do

"idk I don't really feel like this has the same charm as the other stuff from that era, and Spirit They're Gone feels a lot more cohesive (if probably by accident)."

i mean yeah this is way worse than all the other albums released around the same time but its still not ~terrible~
