This album's pretty straightforward for them and it's really melodic so I'd maybe start here or their latest album for the same reasons. The better parts of their discog I'd just rec jamming in order so you can get a feel for how they evolved over time:

Ultima Thulee

Memoria Vetusta I

The Work Which Transforms God

Memoria Vetusta II

777 trilogy

and then if you reeeeeally love them you can check out the other couple that aren't as good.

This is the only one I've heard and it didn't really pique my interest. I guess I just wanted something a bit grittier but anyway, thanks

oh then definitely check Ultima and Vetusta 1 because they're much more raw, especially Ultima.

i'm not the biggest fan of mort but even if you didn't love their more acclaimed albums it's still worth checking out

Mort is a great album in its own right. Not many bands would be capable of making such a dissonant, cacophonous album which is still somehow calculated and engaging throughout. It gets a 4 from me, although I'm rarely in the mood for listening to it.

Mort is better than this. Or at least, more interesting.

Yeah not at all, these days I only spin Mort when I want to trip out my friends who believe they are into extremely obscure music (die antwood, death grips etc)

Honestly, just play them Masturbate in Praise of Black Satan

Mort's cool though, but it's definitely a have-to-be-in-the-mood sort of record.
