I basically just meant that I didn't hear any of these tracks on the radio, nor saw it everywhere on tv like say, the release of their last album. no need to get all qsycho on me.

Also from Wikipedia, on 'Get On Your Boots': "However, it underperformed in comparison with earlier lead singles from U2’s studio albums, peaking at #12 in the UK Singles Chart and making it the first lead traditional format single by the band prior to its parent album release to fail to reach #1 since "With or Without You" in 1987,[29] the first lead single to miss the Top 10 since "Gloria" in 1981,[30] and the worst debut for a U2 single since "If God Will Send His Angels" in 1997.[31] It also broke a string of 14 consecutive UK Top 5 singles for U2. On its second week, the single dropped to #20 on the UK Singles Chart, then #30 before leaving the chart; it remained in the UK Top 100 only for 5 weeks."

Boots was a poor choice as lead single.
Should have been Magnificent.

I don't think it's that close to Subterranean Homesick Blues (Get On Your Boots), but the similarities are there. It is blatant "Pump It Up"/"Wild Wild West".

Not the best U2 album, but a good one. Just takes a few listens to sink in.

Every recent U2 album has just been a half-hearted afterthought. An excuse to turn up their commercial marketing machine. They haven't written a decent song since the 80's, they might as well give up the music and just stick to advertising themselves.

They haven't written a decent song since the 80's
Well that's wrong but this album is basically not very good.
I mean, it's hardly awful, but yo, it's got nothing special in it.

unknown caller is pretty special by any standards imo. such a shame they never managed to get back into whatever they were doing at that point later on in the album, cos it's an astounding christian anthem.
they did most of this album live when I saw them, and it turns into something very different. but I guess that's U2 for you.

I love U2, just got into them. I've stayed clear of this release though.
I think it's worth a listen, i enjoy it
magnificent is brilliant, moment of surrender is slow paced but certainly not anything aweful, unknown caller is awesome as mentioned
the remix of no line on the horizon the song i think is better, and i think the song breathe had so much potential but they turned it into something generic as hell

Justice's remix of Boots was pretty interesting.

Once again, U2 have released a turgid, boring, consistently average album and then complain about how internet piracy is damaging record sales.
NO, your lack of any invention is damaging your record sales.
It's not a bad album, you can listen to it and then, at the end, not remember a single song. That's about the worst thing you can say about an album I think. It doesn't offend but I almost wish it would - at least that's a reaction.
U2 have released some of the most uninspiring, insipid and utterly pointless albums lately, I think they need to call it a day, they're living on reputation.
