Album cover just says In Rock so yeah

The fact that the name of the band isn't in the cover two times doesn't mean a thing, many albums don't have the name of the band on the cover

The fact that the name of the band forms part of the album title gets rid of the need of showing the band name alone

As far as I'm concerned even though we obviously refer to it as "In Rock" (for obvious reasons), the official name of the album (for billboard charts, the label, etc...) is Deep Purple in Rock

For 2-3 years, Gillan was arguably the best rock singer. He was extremely versatile.

A lot of people compare him to Robert Plant, it's a tough draw but I'd give Gillan the edge.

Gillan was way better, I love Plant but he could never do live as well as he was in studio

Oh, I'd easily give Gillan the edge. I even prefer Byron compared to Plant. Hell, add Coverdale to that list as well haha. But Plant is pretty great, no question about that.

Yeah, Byron tops Plant for sure, but I wouldn't put Coverdale ahead of him.

I've never been a fan of Coverdale nor Plant live performances

Coverdale was pretty beastly on the MK III live shows I think. Byron on the other hand was too drunk to top his studio performances haha.

I'd also put Glenn Hughes in the mix of my favorite '70s vocalists and Paul Rodgers was pretty good too.

I've always been interested on how a Hughes's lead Purple would've been

Would have been interesting. Have you checked his pre-Purple band, Trapeze?
