I think the trouble with this is that because it's Thrice, people have sometimes "unrealistic" expectations of their albums...I reckon if that was another unknown band, that the ratings might be higher.

i'd contest the complete opposite...if this wasn't thrice the ratings would be lower...only listened to this once but can't see it being the first on my list of thrice albums that were actually good...

and to you old chap mr. greer, good review as always but i think u jibber jabber too much about the alchemy index...yes it's important but you wrote two REALLy long reviews about them and the first paragraph of this seems like a bit much on a different album than the one you're reviewing...still you are ever the enjoyable writer...

Wizard: the goodness is in the subtleties on this album.

What subtleties? I picked up everything the first time around. Too slow, too boring, too predictable.

The album is great but it's nothing really special - it's all a bit run-of-the-mill. (someone's gonna go crazy over that phrase) It's a 4 at most.

To bodominflames.

Yeah I know "Broken Lungs" isn't on "Vheissu". It was just another example. I wasn't paying attention that I was referencing "Vheissu" songs.

Haha I knew it. The average rating for this goes from 4.24 to 4 overnight because of a slightly negative review. Think for yourself peoples!
really i thought it would have been because a stream came out and more people could listen to it but idk HEY ALSO was what i said on the first page a typo or not because it confuses me ):

That was a hell of a review man, but you always do a stellar job with the thrice reviews. I'll spend one of these days reading the rest of your library I'm sure. As far as the album goes, I for the most part agree, but I'm sure it'll grow on me because the album still feels so genuine and heartfelt. Dustin wrote some beautiful lyrics for this one.

I don't want to be rude or anything, but I truly hope that this review isn't the official sputnik one on this album. It's way off and it sounds very Illusion of Safety fanboyish. I wouldn't rate this a 5 if I was reviewing it, but honestly, it isn't about the rating... the reviewer spends his time talking way more about The Alchemy Index than Beggars and well, sorry, I can tell you're a huge Thrice fan, man... but the only one really off the mark here is you.

I know people will get mad about this, but I had to say it.

If I wasn't aware about Thrice's Beggars and read this, I would get more info about The Alchemy Index

Air than Beggars. This isn't a review about Beggars, but a review about his expectations of another

"magnum opus" as he called.

Beggars is easily at least a 4.5. And way better than IOS, TAITA, Vheissu and the TAI I & II. And I'm

sure that I'm not the only one thinking this way.

Edit: Reading Adam Knott's review right now. Now THERE I'm getting info about the record. It isn't

much about the rating, but more about its content.

Sounds like you're main gripe is with the rating. But people have different opinions; and yours is probably wrong.

Not to mention the fact that the largest portion of this review deals with Beggars itself.

So, I finally got around to listening to Thrice for the first time last night. My conclusion: Everyone needs to get the fuck off their nuts. Nothin' all that special, imo. 3.0-3.5 seems pretty fitting for this album thus far.

I dare you to read this review again and say this to me with a straight face. I know more about Air

and Earth on this review than Beggars. Again, it isn't much about the rating, but its content.

I've just read Adam Knott's review and there is a very well written review, because the reviewer

clearly took his time to inform me about the record. And that's what I want when I read a review:

have a critic viewing about the subject its being reviewed.
