One could easily accuse Phil of trying to turn BM into a pseudo-emo indie subgenre with this album... but thankfully he fails at it (or succeeds at NOT doing it for you glass-half-full people) by keeping the BM influences to a minimum and being a bit more subtle with his vocals than usual. Though for some reason this album finds me really wanting to listen to WITTR's Black Cascade... it's my Pac. NW BM "safety zone" I guess.
