This album is probably the best I've heard from Incubus (mind you, I haven't listened to their earlier works yet, though I plan too.)
The thing I admire most about this album is the changing of time signitures- pretty much all over the place, in a very good way. Just a Phase switches between 4/4 and 6/8 time, Nice to Know You goes between 3/4 and 4/4 each bar during the chorus (either that or it's straight 7/4, but I doubt that because of where the pulse is,). Also, they make very good use of the triplets-against-duplets concept, which is immensely challenging.
I will admit that there are a few songs which get rather boring (11am, Mexico) but these tracks are still quite good. The rest of the album is stellar.
5/5

good review.. but.. i think mexico is a great acoustic song.. its pretty technical too.. and warning is worth the price of the cd.. aquesious transmission is the shit live
also, this album i believe was written at a beach house while surfin.. which explains mornin view and some of the more mellow lyrics.. wutever tommrow brings ill be there etc..
well theres my 2 cents... definitly up there for incubus albums much better than crow

It's not my favorite Incubus album, but it's nonetheless a good album. I think 4/5 stars is a just rating, but I personally give it 3.5/5 as it is IMO not the strongest Incubus album.

I agree with whoever said that the liner notes track order is better than the regular one. It really does make the album flow better.

I do really like this album, my favourite album by Incubus is Make Yourself but this is a solid album with many great songs. My favourite songs on it are Circles, Mexico, Have You Ever and Under My Umbrella.

Could you get a better song than Echo?
I really don't think so...its so beautiful, the melodies, the vocals...just everything...moves me everytime I hear it.
Amazing CD...one of my all time faves...has its snoozes (the beforementioned Circles and 11 am) but has just a great feel to it. I mean, Aqueaus Transmission and Wish You Were Here along with Echo just make me smile...
Very uplifting...just love this CD...miss Dirk though
